Barbados-based airline to offer service to Dominica

ROSEAU, Dominica, Jun 23 2017 – The Barbados-based Trans Island Air 2000 (TIA) will soon offer its services to Dominica, Benoit Bardouille, the chief executive officer of the Dominica Air and Sea Port Authority (DASPA) has said here.

Speaking on the radio programme “‘DASPA In Touch’ on Thursday, Bardouille said TIA, a small airline operating out of Barbados, is looking to fly into Dominica using both airports here and is also looking to use St. Lucia as a connecting airport into Dominica mainly through the Hewanorra International Airport there.

“One of the things that we have observed is that there is an opportunity within the southern part because some of the northern airports we have some regular service in there,” he said.

“We think that there is an opportunity because St. Lucia has quite a few good flight connections to the US, as well as they still have connections to Europe and that may be another option for our travellers and persons wishing to come to Dominica to be able to improve the air access opportunities,” he told radio listeners.

Bardouille said that while TIA is a small airline, it will be utilising its twin otter and 19-seat aircraft.

TIA is looking to begin service to the island sometime in July, which according to Bardouille is “good news” because we will be celebrating Reunion Year soon.
