PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, Jun 29 2017 – The police have launched a search for a businessman from San Fernando who was kidnapped early Thursday.
The police say Gregory Laing, the owner of a bakery, was snatched by kidnappers who have demanded a TT$250,000 ransom for his safe return.
According to the police, Laing, was abducted by two men who bundled him in a waiting vehicle as he went to open the business for employees shortly after 3 a.m. (local time).
The Trinidad Guardian reports that senior police officers have been called to a meeting to discuss the kidnapping.
Anti-kidnapping police are engaged in the search for Laing but have remained tight-lipped on current developments.
