ST JOHN’S, Antigua, Oct 18 2016 – Two Antiguan males have been arrested and 853 pounds of compressed marijuana seized during a counter-drug operation carried out by the Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy (ONDCP in the Old Road area this morning.
The drug carries an estimated wholesale value of XCD$1,707,750.00.
During the operation, a white pickup refused to comply with officers’ instructions to stop and a chase ensued. As a result, one occupant riding in the back of the vehicle received minor injuries after falling from the vehicle and is currently receiving medical attention.
It is believed that a vessel arrived from a nearby Caribbean island in the early hours of Tuesday morning with the illegal drugs onboard. Another Antiguan male is presently being sought by ONDCP in connection with the recent drug seizure.
