St Maarten fugitive held in St Kitts

BASSETERRE, St Kitts, Jul 31 2017 – A man wanted by security officials in St Maarten in connection with several murders was captured by police in St Kitts Nevis on the weekend.

The police report that Grenadian-born Kathron Fortune, also known as “Cuchi” escaped from police in St Maarten in 2016.

Fortune was held by the police early Saturday when they responded to reports of unusual activity in the district of Cranston Bay.

Initial investigations determined that Fortune had entered the Federation illegally.

When captured, the police report that he had in his possession a high powered rifle, a bullet proof vest, marijuana and a sum of United States dollars.

Fortune was arrested and charged for possession of firearm and ammunition as well as entering the Federation illegally.

The police say other charges will be laid as the investigation continues.
