Police on Monday arrested and charged two Canadian visitors caught attempting to smuggle drugs into Barbados.
Janella Christy Milord Ashford, 18, of 219 Lucinda Crescent, K1WOA1, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; and Marc Dawins Cimeus, 20, of 932B Cummings Avenue, Ottawa Ontario, Canada; have been charged with:
- Possession of cannabis.
- Intent to supply cannabis.
- Trafficking in cannabis.
- Importation.
Police said they committed the offences on Sunday, Jan 13 at the Grantley Adams International Airport, Seawell, Christ Church.
Both appeared at the District B Magistrates’ Court, Blackmans, St Joseph before Magistrate Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell, on Tuesday, where they pleaded guilty to all four offences. They were remanded into custody at Dodds prison and are scheduled to reappear on Tuesday, Jan 29.
