2 French nationals killed in Haiti

Two French nationals have been killed in an attack in Haiti, the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement released on Monday evening.

“It is with great emotion that we learned of the deaths of two compatriots in Haiti following an assault,” it said.

French media reported that the married couple, a 44-year-old man and 41-year-old woman, were shot dead at the weekend in Port-Au-Prince in an apparent armed robbery, after flying to the Caribbean country to adopt a child.

The French embassy in Haiti said it was in contact with local authorities “so that all the light will be shed on this tragedy.”
