After months of drought, Antigua’s main water catchment fills up

After a prolonged drought, Antigua’s main water catchment is full again.

Potworks Dam, the country’s main fresh water catchment, went dry in weeks 2017.

Heavy rains over the weekend signalled an end to the drought and also resulted in a significant amount of water ending up in the dam.

The Antigua and Barbuda Public Utilities Authority usually get 30 per cent of its supply from surface water.

Sixty per cent of water is sourced from desalination, with only 10 percent coming from ground water.
