All Star Guyanese Cast For Month-End Play At ARG

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, March 16, 2015 – SNAPPED, a play written by Darren Mc Almont, is coming to the Antigua Recreation Ground on Saturday, March 28.

The play (a comedy-drama) is set in modern times and features issues that are very common in Caribbean societies. These include a spouse dealing with infidelity; sexual molestation; and incest. It also highlights the struggles and great determination of an ambitious young woman in her final year at university while she was pregnant out of wedlock.

SNAPPED, which features an all Guyanese cast, is filled with music including the torch song from the Broadway musical Dream Girls ‘And I am Telling You I’m Not Going.’ It will also feature Claudette “CP” Peters and D.U.S.T Dance Company from Antigua as well as Ryan Hoppie from Guyana.

Mc Almont, who will also play the character of Collis in the play, has worked as an Instructor of Drama and Talent Coach in Antigua and Barbuda.

Tickets for the show are on sale at Townhouse Mega Store, St. John’s Pharmacy (formerly The City Store), Palm Court Restaurant, Ceco Pharmacy and Paradise Café.

The organisers have expressed their gratitude to the Minister of Trade, Commerce, Industry, Sports, Culture & Festivals, Hon. Paul “Chet” Greene for his invaluable support.

They are also calling for more support from the business community for young writers and the Performing Arts in general, noting that approaches to most of the major business houses in the country for sponsorship of the play were met with a negative response.

THE CAST

Henry Rodney, who is no stranger to performing in Antigua, plays the title role of Richard. Rodney has performed in his homeland at the Theatre Guild and the National Cultural Centre. He has also performed in New York and Canada.
