Anguilla Premier writes British PM who’s battling COVID-19 in ICU

Anguilla Premier Victor Bank has written to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson who is batting COVID-19 in hospital.

Below is the text of Bank’s letter:

I write on behalf of the people of Anguilla and my colleagues in our government to express our best wishes for your full and speedy recovery.

Together we find ourselves in the foothills of a new range of challenges that we must scale together as one family of British nations for the benefit of us all, and together with the wider world.

The drive and enthusiasm that you have so clearly demonstrated whilst Foreign Secretary and now Prime Minister have been key to the progress we have made thus far and, we hope, will continue to be so for many years to come.

With God’s help I look forward to meeting with you in good form later in the year.

Meanwhile, take care of yourself and best wishes for good health, happiness and success to your family and loved ones.

Victor F. Banks

Premier

On Wednesday Chancellor Rishi Sunak  said Johnson is “improving” after two nights in intensive care with coronavirus.

Johnson was now sitting up in bed and “engaging positively” with the clinical team at St Thomas’ Hospital in London, the chancellor added.

Sunak also said a Cobra meeting on Thursday would discuss “the approach” to take in reviewing lockdown measures.

It comes as a record 938 daily deaths were reported in UK hospitals.

The PM was taken to St Thomas’ Hospital in London on Sunday – 10 days after testing positive for the virus – and was then moved to intensive care on Monday.
