BARBADOS – Five charged with murder of British national

Five men are due to appear in a Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday charged with the murder of a 49-year-old British businessman, whose body was found in a remote area of the island after he had been reported missing last month.

Police said that the body of Steven Weare was discovered in a remote area at Melverton, St George on September 1, after he was last seen alive at a car park at University Drive, Black Rock, St Michael on August 23.

The British car salesman, from Kirkham in Lancashire, a director of Fylde Motor Company, was reportedly no stranger to the island.

The police said that the five men arrested are between the ages 26 to 30.
