Former Governor General Sir Clifford Husbands is dead.
The state-owned Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) made the announcement on Thursday.
In a subsequent release, the Royal Barbados Police Force said Sir Clifford died suddenly at his Mount Stanfast, St James residence sometime around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Sir Clifford, 91, served as this country’s head of state from 1996 until his retirement on October 31, 2011.
He was predeceased by his wife Lady Ruby Husbands.
