Barbados PM resting comfortably after medical procedure

Prime Minister Mia Mottley is resting comfortably after undergoing a medical procedure, Acting Prime Minister Santia Bradshaw said in a statement this evening.

Bradshaw said: “Prime Minister Mia Mottley has emerged from her medical procedure in high spirits and with the assurance of success by her medical team.

“The Prime Minister is now resting comfortably and has asked that a sentiment of gratitude be conveyed to all those who lifted her up in prayers, called or sent messages of support and well wishes.”

On Thursday, Prime Minister Mottley told the country her doctors had advised her to undergo a medical procedure at the weekend.

She assured Barbadians there was no need for concern saying: “I know I will be well.”

Bradshaw added that Mottley appealed to the country to “unite in its resolve to manage and contain the spread of the dreaded COVID-19 in Barbados.”
