Irfaan Ali will be declared the ninth President of Guyana, Justice Claudette Singh, the chair of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) decided on Tuesday afternoon.
Justice Singh, at a meeting of the Commission, suggested that she will a declaration based on the results of the National Vote Recount which showed the People’s Progressive Party beat APNU+AFC by 15, 416 votes.
She will be asking the Chief Elections Officer to prepare a report according to the figures produce from the recount.
Justice Singh said she has no power to annul the elections as called for by APNU+AFC and said that their concerns could be addressed in court action.
