Canadian Arrested After Cocaine Found At Airport

KINGSTON, Jamaica, Nov 08 2016 – A 40-year-old Canadian national is due to appear  in court later this week after police said J$2.6 million worth of cocaine had been found in her suitcase at the Sangster International Airport on Monday.

Police said that Kim Halasz had been charged with breaches of the Dangerous Drug Act.

The 40-year-old accountant was detained at the airport by the Narcotics Police while waiting to check-in for a WestJet Airline flight to Toronto, Canada.

Police said she was acting suspiciously and when her luggage was searched 2.2 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated street value of J$2.61 million was found.
