Earthquake Jolts Barbados, Guyana and Trinidad

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Jul 16 2015 – A 6.5 magnitude earthquake shook Barbados just after 11:00 am Thursday.

The quake occurred 140km NE of Bathsheba, Barbados at a depth of 23km.

There were reports of shaking in Georgetown, Guyana as well as in Trinidad.

Earlier on Friday a magnitude 5.7 earthquake was recorded off Barbados.

The tremor occurred at 7: 01 am about 128 km northeast of Bathsheba, St Joseph, according to the European‑Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

Residents in parts of St Andrew, St Michael, St Philip and Christ Church reportedly felt the tremor.
