Engine failure forces JetBlue to make emergency landing in Grenada

A JetBlue Airways flight from Grenada to New York was forced to make an emergency landing Wednesday afternoon because of an engine failure.

JetBlue Airways flight B6950/JBU950, an Airbus A320-232, departed Maurice Bishop International Airport at 3:41 p.m. (local time), destined for John F Kennedy International Airport.

The aircraft encountered problems shortly after takeoff and returned to the tarmac.
All passengers and crews are said to be safe.

People in the south of Grenada near the airport heard a loud explosion in the sky, and within minutes the plane was seen returning to the airport.

The airport emergency protocol was immediately activated for the return of the aircraft.
