Former Haitian MP dies after displaying coronavirus symptoms

Former Jacmel MP Patrick Domont passed away this Thursday, May 21, around 5 a.m. at his home in Port-au-Prince.

He had been under quarantine voluntarily since Tuesday, May 19. The news was confirmed by a member of his family.

The former deputy and former government commissioner had been presenting symptoms similar to those of the coronavirus for several days according to his family. He had respiratory problems, fever and flu.

Since the signs persisted, his doctor advised him to get tested on Tuesday. “Something he did,” said the family member. He died on Thursday without receiving the test results from the MSPP.

On the night of Wednesday, May 20, noting the deterioration in the state of health of the former deputy, his family tried in vain to take him to the already overloaded university hospital of Mirebalais.

The family of the deceased has sharply criticized the country’s inability to take care of suspected COVID-19 cases.

The Father of five children was expecting a sixth child.
