Former West Indies wicketkeeper in horrific accident that killed man in Barbados

Former West Indies wicketkeeper and former Chairman of Selectors, Courtney Browne, was involved in an horrific accident that resulted in the death of a man in Barbados.

Then accident happened Sunday morning along Bennetts Road, St Thomas, about 500 meters north of Bagatelle Great House.

Dead is Michael Mcclean, 37, of 1st Avenue, Rockley, Christ Church.

Police say that around 4 a.m., Mcclean was driving a Toyota Corolla, which collided with a blue BMW driven by Browne, 49, of #23 Alleyndale, St Lucy. Browne was accompanied by his wife Tricia Browne, 47.

Police say Mcclean died on the spot.

Courtney Browne suffered a broken leg, while his wife complained of chest pains and lower abdominal pain. Both were taken away by two ambulances to the QEH for medical attention.

In a statement on Monday the West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) extended best wishes to Browne, and his wife.

“WIPA’s executive and staff would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to Mr. Browne and his family. We are praying for your strength in this turbulent time and we wish you and your wife a very speedy and full recovery,” the statement reads.

There was no mention by WIPA about the family, which lost a loved one in the crash.
