Police in Grenada have charged Minister of State with responsibility for the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), Senator Winston Garraway with assault.
Garraway is accused of assaulting female journalist, Calistra Farrier while in the line of duty.
The charge comes following an investigation that lasted almost three months.
The government minister will have to appear in court by summons that will be issued to him by the Police Prosecution Department.
The Junior Minister, who was fired as Minister of State for Information a few weeks after a photograph was circulated of him appearing to be standing menacingly over the journalist who had fallen to the floor, has maintained his innocence.
If convicted Garraway faces a maximum fine of $1,000 or three months in prison, or both.
The clash between the journalist and the Senator occurred when Garraway attempted to block Farrier from putting questions to Tourism Minister Dr. Clarice Modeste-Curwen at a post-Cabinet press conference on September 10.
The Keith Mitchell-led Administration had come out in support of the Senator, claiming to have conducted its own investigation and found no evidence of wrongdoing. (THE NEW TODAY)
