IICA launches Monitor with key information on food security in the region

The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) has launched the Food Security Monitor for Latin America and the Caribbean – a complete report on the agriculture sector in the hemisphere during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The purpose of the publication is to support decision makers at all levels of the public sector in IICA’s member countries – federal, state and municipal.

The publication will identify trends and will include information, including analyses, statistics and decisions made by the Ministries of Agriculture of the region, as well as relevant facts on production, logistics, trade and supply.

The publication can be accessed on the IICA web page, and will also be disseminated through social media, email, WhatsApp and other messaging apps.

Manuel Otero, Director General of IICA, explained that IICA has developed this service to offer member countries an accurate and comprehensive overview, which will be useful for making decisions in light of the changes and challenges facing us as a result of the ongoing pandemic, with a view to guaranteeing the food security of our people.
