IRENA invites renewable projects to join Climate Investment Platform

The Climate Investment Platform (CIP) is a landmark initiative launched by a coalition of intergovernmental partners – the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All), and the Green Climate Fund (GCF) – during the UN Climate Action Summit in September 2019.

IRENA’s contribution to the CIP, a purpose-built portal developed in response to country needs to mobilise low-carbon, climate-resilient investments, has now entered its operational phase.

IRENA is pleased to invite renewable energy project, renewable-based electricity grid project, and energy efficiency project developers to register suitable projects.  To further support registered projects, partners, and governments, IRENA will host a series of regional Investment Forums designed to connect them to identify areas of cooperation, as well as strengthen the ability of decision-makers to develop strong enabling environments for renewable energy investments.

The Investment Forums will be organised around 14 regional clusters (5 sub-regions in Africa, 4 in Asia, 2 in Latin America, 1 for Caribbean Islands, 1 for Pacific island, 1 Southeast Europe), allowing activities to be adjusted to the specific needs of countries.

We aim to connect low-carbon energy projects with available climate finance to advance the global energy transformation and achieve a 90 per cent reduction in energy related emissions by 2050 to limit climate change.

By working together we can grow the global economy, reduce energy poverty and support sustainable development. #ItsPossible with Renewables.
