Jamaica ‘s National Security Minister in early morning crash

National Security Minister, Dr Horace Chang, could be released from the University Hospital of the West Indies later on Wednesday after he was involved in a car accident earlier.

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton confirmed that his colleague was in a vehicle along with his bodyguard, when it flipped over twice near the intersection of Shortwood and Constant Spring roads in St Andrew on the outskirts of the capital.

“Dr Chang was sitting in the back of the vehicle making some calls when it flipped over twice. He has since been checked out by the doctors at the University Hospital, where he received excellent treatment, and could be released shortly,” Tufton told the media.

Chang was reportedly experiencing pain in his shoulders and a hand, while the protection officer has been complained of back and neck pains and he is still undergoing tests.

The Jamaica Observer newspaper reported that Chang was slated to leave for a meeting in Washington this morning but that trip has been postponed.
