ROSEAU, Dominica, Sept. 24, 2014 – Jamaican dancehall artiste Mavado has been announced as the final act to complete the lineup for the 18th World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) from the 24-26th of October 2014.

Dominica Vibes News said the announcement was made by the Dominica Festivals Committee’s (DFC) events assistant, Marva Williams during a press conference on Tuesday.

“He is popularly known to the entire world, he has more than 45 hit songs in terms of albums he has produced for the world.”

“He is described to have the ability to voice his experiences and capture of Jamaican youth every step of the way,” Ms Williams said.

David Constantine Brooks AKA Mavado was raised in an area known as “Cuban”, a micro ghetto within the heart of Kingston, Jamaica’s Cassava Piece community.

His grandmother gave him his first musical experience at a young age, bringing him to church to sing. He also cites the music of Bounty Killer as an early influence.

His debut single, “Real McKoy” on the Anger Management riddim in 2004, provided him instant success. He further established himself with the follow-up record “Weh Dem a Do”, on the Red Bull & Guinness riddim, that had the distinction of hitting Billboard.

In 2008 Mavado was given the prestigious UK MOBO Award for Best Reggae Act. In April 2010, Mavado starred as a gangster in Drake’s song ‘Find Your Love’ for Drake’s album Thank Me Later.
