Nicolas Maduro orders the Ambassador of the European Union to leave the country

The Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Monday ordered the emissary of the European Union accredited to Venezuela to leave the country within 72 hours.

The expulsion comes after EU sanctions against a group of Venezuelan representatives for their actions against the Congress.

He announced the expulsion of the EU representative, Isabel Brilhante Pedrosa , during a speech at the presidential palace in Miraflores.

The EU sanctioned eleven Venezuelan officials involved in actions against the opposition to the government of Nicolas Maduro on Monday, including Luis Parra, who tried to replace Juan Guaido in the presidency of the parliament in May.

Who are they to try to impose themselves by threat? Who are they ? That’s enough ! This is why I decided to give the European Union ambassador 72 hours to leave our country, ”said Nicolas Maduro.

“We will settle this in 72 hours (…) We will provide her with a plane to go, but we will put our affairs in order with the European Union,” said Nicolas Maduro.

The European Union is one of the members of the international community, including some fifty countries which have recognized Juan Guaido as interim president of Venezuela.
