Policeman dies in car crash in Spanish Town, Jamaica

A police constable died in a motor vehicle crash this morning on St Johns Road, Spanish Town, St Catherine.

He has been identified as Shadale Goldbourne.

The police’s Corporate Communication Unit (CCU) said the deceased policeman was attached to the Kingston Central Police Division, but was performing duties in the St Catherine North Police Division at the time of death.

Goldburne was killed about 2:30 a.m. when the Suzuki Swift motor car he was driving along the Spanish Town bypass crashed at the intersection with St John’s Road. The motor car reportedly crashed into a tree before coming to rest in a ditch beside the roadway.

The CCU said the JCF Chaplaincy Unit and the JCF welfare officer has made contact with the family and colleagues of the deceased constable and is providing assistance as needed.

“I urge all members to avail themselves of the services available through the Chaplaincy Unit and the Medical Services Branch wherever needed,” Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson said.
