Search Called off for Teen Missing at sea

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Jul 15 2015 – The search for 18-year-old student, Wilson Caines, missing at sea since June 30, has been called off.

Caines reportedly went out to sea with fisherman Chris Dorset but the men were thrown overboard after their boat was hit by a wave.

Dorset was able to swim back to shore and the vessel was later located by Puerto Rico Air Guard some 10 miles off St. Croix.

Police Public Relations Officer, Inspector Lyndon David, said that the search for the former Saddlers Secondary School student was called off after extensive searches were conducted with the help of teams from neighbouring islands.

“We had our local and regional partners, we had our local fishermen…we had the Air Wing from Puerto Rico and we also had the French Air Wing based in Martinique assisting in the search.

“We want to encourage persons who are going in those fishing vessels to make sure they are properly equipped,” he said.
