Travel to Bahamas requires online Health Visa application

The Bahamas Ministry of Health has implemented an online Health Visa application system for travelers going to the country. As part of the application, travelers must complete a COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken within ten (10) days of arrival and submit the negative test result.

The new system went into effect on July 8, and all travelers will be required to complete an electronic Bahamas Health Visa application before departure from the place of embarkation.

A press release from the Government of The Bahamas stated that it will accept the negative COVID-19 RT-PCR (swab) test only if the sample was taken within 10 days of arrival.

Once the application is completed, an automated response will be provided. The only persons approved to travel are those who have received a green color-coded response, as proof of approval. This confirmation must be presented upon arrival in The Bahamas.

The Health Visa application takes 24 to 48 hours to be processed and persons are being advised to complete the application with adequate lead time. Travelers to the country who fail to comply with the stated requirements will be denied entry.

The Bahamas government recommends that all travelers interested in visiting the country review requirements applicable to each member of their traveling party at www.bahamas.com/travelupdates before booking a trip.

The Bahamas opened up the country to international travel on July 1.

The online application form can be found at travel.gov.bs.
