Woman in Trinidad accused of having sex with teenager

A 26-year-old woman has been sent for psychiatric evaluation after she appeared in a Siparia Magistrate Court in southern Trinidad on four charges of having sex with a 15-year-old boy last year.

The prosecution alleges that the incidents occurred on dates unknown in July 2018 when she had sex with the teenager at his home. The charges were laid indictably and the unidentified woman was not called upon to plead.

But after the four charges were read out, the woman began to chant incoherently and behave strangely and Magistrate Margaret Alert ordered that she be sent for an evaluation at St Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital. The case has been adjourned to January 24.

Meanwhile, a 55-year-old man is due to appear in court on Monday charged with having sex with a 13-year-old child at his home on the outskirts of the capital on January 7 this year.

Simon Gordon was charged by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Child Protection Unit (CPU) on Thursday, following the investigations into the report that he had sexually penetrated the minor.
