WSRN S-Barbados Hosts ENVISION® Credentialing Workshop

The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC), in collaboration with the Barbados Water Authority (BWA), will be hosting an ENVISION® Credentialing Workshop for the Water Sector Resilience Nexus for Sustainability in Barbados (WSRN S-Barbados) Project, from October 7 to 8.

Envision® is a new rating system which aims to improve infrastructural projects from project design through to construction and operation. The system considers 100 sustainability criteria in five categories namely Quality of Life, Leadership, Resource Allocation, Natural World, and Climate & Resilience. Participants who successfully complete the ENVISION® credentialing training course and examination will be able to use the ENVISION® Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) designation and are expected to be better prepared for their roles in improving infrastructural projects in Barbados.

The ENVISION® Credentialing Workshop is one of several professional certification courses to be delivered under Component 4 of the WRNS S-Barbados Project, that is geared towards capacity building and, public education and awareness. The initiatives were designed to support the water sector in Barbados by building partnership and professionalism that is necessary to continually innovate and adapt to climate change.

More than 30 people from the Barbados Water Authority and other stakeholders are expected to participate in this Workshop that will be held in Barbados at the BWA Training Room. Sessions will be led by Ms. Ifetayo Venner, Water Sustainability Leader at Arcadis and Dr. Maya Trotz, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of South Florida.

The Water Sector Resilience Nexus for Sustainability in Barbados (WSRN S-Barbados) Project, valued at USD 45.2M, is being implemented by the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) in collaboration with the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Government of Barbados and the Barbados Water Authority (BWA).
