PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, Mar 21 2016 – Police say they have detained one person and are searching for two others after a 14-year-old schoolboy was killed and his home set on fire over the weekend.

Police said that the charred and dismembered body of the Form One student of the Siparia East Secondary School, Darian Ned, was found amid the ruins of the wooden house on Sunday. His right foot and left hand were missing.

Nedd’s mother, Christine, said she was not at home when the fire started and that she had made several reports to the police, begging for assistance to save her son.

“My son hiding for months now,” she said, adding “we didn’t think this was going to happen,” Christine said.

Media reports said that the 14-year-old had witnessed a crime and may have been killed as a result.

Police were on Sunday searching for the killers with the help of a helicopter.
