ST JOHN’S, Antigua, Jan 03 2016, CNS – A man who reportedly absconded from Dominica following a warrant for his arrest, was shot by members of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, after they came under gun fire by the alleged fugitive. He has been identified Kurt ‘Shabba’ James.

The police, at the time, was in the process of executing a search warrant at a Carlisle Estate apartment about 10:00am on Sunday, having acted on critical “tight lipped” intelligence.

Having been confronted with gunshots by James, the lawmen returned fire and he was shot during in the process. James was rushed to the MSJMC but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Two firearms; being a .380 Pistol and a 9mm Pistol, as well as a number of ammunition, have since been recovered from the scene, along with several other items deemed to be useful to police investigations.

It has since been confirmed by Dominican Law Enforcement Authorities, that James was classified to be an extremely dangerous criminal, who was well known to the Dominican Courts, for a series of heinous crimes; including rape. It was further related to local authorities, that a warrant for his arrest had been issued since July of 2015, for failing to appear before the Court in Dominica on at least three sexual offence cases.

James, who was also classified to be a ‘serial rapist’, was reportedly arrested and charged with ‘Murder’ over a decade ago after he allegedly slashed the throat of a female in Dominica.
