American man dies after scooter accident in Bermuda

A 69-year-old American man has died after being injured in a scooter accident in Bermuda earlier this month.

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) announced that Duane Presti died yesterday while receiving medical treatment at a hospital in the United States.

He was the island’s eighth road fatality for 2023.

On June 6, 2023, Presti was riding a rented scooter with his 67-year-old wife as a pillion passenger along Mullet Bay Road, St. George’s when they collided with a motorcycle that was driven by a 50-year-old Bermudian man.

Presti was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and he was later flown to a US. hospital for further medical care.

His wife and the local motorcyclist received non-life-threatening injuries.
