Another journalist assassinated in Haiti

Journalist Francklin Tamar was assassinated in the district of Carrefour-Feuille, in the south of the Haitian capital, by armed individuals, the management of Radio Solidarité confirmed on Monday.

Tamar, who worked for that media outlet, was killed by individuals on a motorcycle a few meters from his private residence.

According to the judicial report, the host of the radio program Compas Culturel was shot several times and died instantly.

His death brings to eight the number of journalists assassinated this year by armed gangs and the police.

One of the most recent victims, journalist Romelson Vilsaint, was killed after law enforcement agents dispersed a protest at the Delmas 33 police station, while Fritz Dorilas was riddled with bullets not far from his home in Tabarre.

Add to the list Tess Garry, whose body was found mutilated in Les Cayes (south) after being missing for a week, in addition to four reporters murdered and their bodies burned in the communes of Laboule and Cité Soleil in January and September, respectively.
