Antigua Government Minister To Get Medical Treatment Overseas

ST JOHN’S, Antigua, Jan 09 2017 – Works and Housing Minister Eustace “Teco” Lake is to seek medical treatment overseas after he was hospitalised for treatment for complications with his kidneys and other health issues, Governor General Rodney Williams said Monday.

Delivering the traditional Throne speech at the start of a new session of Parliament, Williams spoke briefly of Lake’s hospitalisation informing legislators that he would be seeking medical treatment overseas.

Lake had been hospitalised since last week at the Mount St John’s Medical Centre (MSJMC) receiving treatment and though his blood pressure had improved, he was reported to have been at the Intensive Care Unit on Sunday.

Last week, Government’s Chief of Staff Lionel “Max” Hurst confirmed that Lake was heavily sedated and needed a respirator to help him breathe.

The government also last week dismissed reports that Lake had died and Prime Minister Gaston Browne has since asked the nation to pray for the minister.
