ANTIGUA – Jamaican fined on gun and ammo charges

A 26-year-old Jamaican man must pay $10,000 or face jail time after he pleaded guilty to gun and ammo charges on Tuesday.

When he appeared in the Magistrates, Shawn McIntosh was fined $5000 each for charges of possession of a .25 pistol and possession of five rounds of .25 ammunition.

McIntosh, who is not known to the court, will spend six months in prison if he does not pay the fines.

Officers found the weapon concealed in a shoe when they executed a search warrant at Macintosh’s home in Campsite on Saturday.

The convict, who overstayed his time in the country, will likely be deported by the Immigration Department once he either pays the fine or serves the time.
