ANTIGUA – Japanese woman arrested for battery

A 57-year-old Japanese woman is currently in police custody, after she was arrested at V.C Bird International Airport for Battery on Police, Disorderly Conduct, among other offences.

It is alleged that Masayo Goto, who arrived in Antigua on Monday aboard Caribbean Airline Flight #459 from Jamaica, put up a fight with Customs Officers, and refused to be searched, during a routine check.

Narcotics and K-9 Officers, who were also on duty at the airport, had to rush to the assistance of their Law Enforcement colleagues, as a result of the kicking, screaming, rambunctious behaviour of the Japanese national.

A search was eventually carried out on her bags and nothing of interest was found.

She was taken into custody and will be charged for the offences.

She was destined to travel to St. Vincent on Wednesday.
