Meshia Clarke, is currently in the United States participating in the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). She is taking part in a three-week project on “Renewable Energy and Sustainability,” from August 13 to August 31.
Meshia, is the Executive Director of the Barbados Renewable Energy Association. In this role, which she has held for just over one year, she is responsible for the strategic repositioning of the Association as well as program development and execution.
She spent five years as the Program Officer-Trade Policy and Advocacy at the Barbados Coalition of Service Industries Inc.
During the program, participants will examine U.S. efforts to promote international cooperation on global sustainability. This three-week project will allow participants to examine global change indicators, risks, and adaptation measures. Participants will examine efforts to further develop low-carbon technologies, and the diversification and use of renewable energy.
Meshia, will join her counterparts from twenty-two other countries, including Iraq, Brussels, Vietnam, Guyana, and Egypt. Participants will analyze innovations in clean energy and alternative fuel science. This program will introduce participants to U.S. energy policies at the international, federal, state and local levels.
The program began on August 13 in Washington, D.C., and includes travel to at least four cities across the United States including Orlando, Florida; Denver, Colorado; Des Moines, Iowa; and Salt Lake City, Nevada. The program ends in Reno, Nevada, on August 31.
