BARBADOS – Guyanese among three held with drugs

Members of the Drug Squad have arrested and jointly charged the two Barbadian women and a Guyanese man in connection with a number of drug related offences, committed between November 7 – 10 at West Terrace Heights, St James and Mason Hall Street, St Michael.

Betty Alicia Griffith–Payne, 38, of lot # 8, Apartment # 1, West Terrace Heights, St James; Marie Alexa Griffith, 35, of Phillips Road, Cleavers Hill, St Joseph; and Guyanese National, Kwanza Ezra Canterbury, 34, have been charged with unlawful possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to supply, trafficking cocaine and conspiracy to traffic cocaine.

Griffith–Payne and Griffith face an additional charge of handling cocaine, while Canterbury faces additional charges of possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to supply and trafficking cannabis.

The total weight of the cocaine is 12.5 kilos valued $625,000 while the cannabis weighed one kilo valued $8000.

The three are expected to appear in court today.
