BARBADOS – Man held with BB$112,000 worth of weed from Jamaica remanded to prison

Members of the Drug Squad have arrested and formally charged 22-year-old Wrensford Ricardo Holder of Kew Road, Bank Hall, St Michael for a number of drug related offences which were committed at the Grantley Adams International Airport.

Holder has been charged with possession of cannabis, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation.

On October 3 this year, Holder arrived on the island by air from Jamaica. Having clear Immigration, he proceeded to Customs.

After placing his luggage on the counter as requested by custom officers for a search to be conducted, Holder ran off making good his escape.

The matter was reported to the police and 16 transparent packages containing cannabis were found in the luggage. The cannabis weighed 14 kgs with an estimated street value of $112,000.

Investigations were conducted into the matter and on Sunday, December 17 and Holder was arrested.

Holder appeared before Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch in the District ‘C’ Magistrates’ today and was remanded to prison to reappear in the District ‘B’ Magistrates’ Court on December 20.
