Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley is participating in the third meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Action Network on Post-Disaster Recovery in Puerto Rico.
A government statement said that Mottley, who was part of a Caribbean Community (CARICOM) delegation that visited the United Nations for talks with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterras on the ongoing political situation in Venezuela, had been invited to participate in the closing plenary session on of the conference that is being held under the theme “Fortifying the Future of the Caribbean Economy.”
The statement said that the session will be moderated by former United States president Bill Clinton and that Prime Minister Mottley will use the opportunity to outline the vision for the future of the Caribbean economy, as well as share strategies and approaches that Action Network members can take to help realize the forward-looking economic vision.
The CGI Action Network brings together leaders from government, business and civil society to discuss and develop strategies and solutions to address hurricane recovery needs in the region, while laying the foundation for a more resilient future.
Established in 2005 by Clinton, the CGI organized global and emerging leaders to create and implement solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.
After devastating hurricanes affected this region in September 2017, assistance was requested, and in response, the Clinton Foundation formally launched a new Post-Disaster Recovery Network, on April 3, 2018, in Miami, Florida, the statement added.
