Brothers Plead Guilty To Trying To Kill Their Parents, Sentenced To 20 Years

ATLANTA, Nov 08 2016 – Two brothers from Georgia who pleaded guilty to drugging their parents and trying to beat them to death have been sentenced to 20 years behind bars.

Cameron Ervin, 17, and his brother Christopher, 22, were brought to Gwinnett County Superior Court on Monday, both were charged as adults. The brothers pleaded guilty to all 13 charges including felony, kidnapping, aggravated assault and first-degree arson.

Police confirmed that on Sept. 5, Christopher and Cameron plotted to kill their parents Zachery and Yvonne Ervin by drugging them at dinner and cutting the gas line in an attempt to explode their home. Then, the sadistic siblings stabbed Zachery and covered Yvonne’s face in Saran wrap, according to police testimony.

Yvonne was able to make the desperate 9-1-1 call that was played back in court.

Police testified that when the parents were not dead, Christopher said, “This isn’t working; We’ll have to shoot them.”

Both parents testified in court on their sons’ behalf. Yvonne says it was a bad intake of marijuana that spiked the aggressive behavior in her son Chris, not to mention both the boys’ history of addiction and depression.

The father said, “That night, I saw Satan. I knew shortly after that, that what had happened to us wasn’t my sons.”

The youngest brother Cameron said, “During my time that I have spent in the Gwinnett County Detention Center fighting this case … I’ve had at least one visit a week, which is at least 60 visits, with my parents, one on one… I realize how much I love them. And I realize how much they love me.”

Cameron said that both he and his brother are not the people they were before the assault.

Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter agreed to a plea deal of 50 years in jail — 20 served by each brother — with the possibility of a 30-year probation after 10 to 20 years served.

The Ervin parents launched a nonprofit foundation, “Fighting for Forgiveness,” as a result of the calculated attack.
