CANTO – the trade association of telecommunications operators in the Caribbean region – has joined forces in the fight against the COVID-19 crisis by establishing the “CANTO COVID-19 Task Force” to support the industry, engage governments and regulators and share best practices during this global pandemic.
The Task Force, chaired by the Secretary General Teresa Wankin, consists of telecom operators, industry experts and other key stakeholders from the region and internationally.
The Task Force will focus on guidance for citizens, employers, employees and governments in dealing with this crisis; collect and record initiatives undertaken by the telecoms industry to support customers and governments during the pandemic and deliver a series of webinars on topics ranging from best practices for working from home; virtual meetings & conferences; the future of the work force; promoting responsible use of networks and ensuring network resilience.
CANTO, through its Disaster Recovery Management Committee has activated its Disaster Plan and we are monitoring the status of our member countries.
The CANTO COVID-19 Task Force will work closely with this committee, will operate for the duration of the pandemic, meet once a week and provide information on dates and times of the webinars after every meeting.
