Caribbean Medical Professionals’ Summit set to Debut in Jamaica with 2-Day Conference

Caribbean Medical Professionals’ Summit (CAMPS) makes its debut at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, for a two-day summit that will provide mentorship, networking and career guidance opportunities for medical professionals within the Caribbean.

Slated for May 31 – June 2, the summit will foster the theme “Toward Professional and Personal Development,” which two prominent guest speakers will present on.

With attendees including medical students, junior physicians, and specialist physicians who are looking to further hone their skills and grow professionally, the conference has also invited 10 high schoolers who have invested interests in medicine.

The Caribbean Medical Professionals’ Summit is targeting three sub-groups of Caribbean physicians: final year medical students, early career Medical Doctors and fully established Medical Specialists. These targeted groups span from all across the globe, with students and medical personnel traveling  from The University of the West Indies (all campuses), St. George’s University, American University of the Caribbean, and other medical schools throughout the Caribbean; the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The summit serves as a propellant for attendees to network with colleagues while offering mentorship to medical aspirants.

“Having worked with clients in Jamaica, Grenada, The Bahamas, Trinidad , and other Caribbean islands, we hope to train 200 Caribbean medical students and junior doctors in career and life planning so they can achieve their maximum career potential, make use of untapped healthcare human resources available to the Caribbean region, and improve the quality of healthcare delivery in the Caribbean by proactively investing in the wellness and development of care providers,” shared Shawna-Kaye Lester, CAMPS Creator.

Memorable Essay, organisers of the conference, is an organization that assists medical residency, graduate school and college applicants in providing outstanding applications that will catapult them into the schools and programs of their choices. Notably, CAMPS is the first-of-its-kind conference to be organized in the Caribbean, and will feature Dr. Shafi Ahmed and Dr. Kemi Doll as its two distinct keynote speakers, who will base their presentations on ensuring attendees achieve their maximum career potential, maintain their own health, and become and remain motivated to help improve the quality of healthcare in the Caribbean throughout their careers.
