CARIBBEAN-WATER-Caribbean Water Ministers Hold High Level Meeting

NASSAU, The Bahamas, Oct. 09, 2014, CNS – The Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA) is hosting its 23rd Annual Conference and Exhibition here this week under the theme Water, Waste and Energy in the Caribbean.

For five days, there will be technical sessions, workshops and seminars including exhibitor and vendor showcases, field trips and tours and so much more.

The 10th High Level Session Ministerial Forum which will be held during the conference from October 9-10 is organised by the CWWA in association with the Global Water Partnership in the Caribbean, (GWP-C), the United Nations Environment Programme Regional Coordinating Unit for the Caribbean (UNEP CAR/RCU) and the GEF funded Caribbean Regional Fund for Wastewater Management (CReW) Project under the theme “Water Security- Risks and Opportunities”.

This forum will provide ministers with responsibility for water from the region with the opportunity to discuss policies as they relate to solid waste, water and wastewater management in the Caribbean.

More than 300 local and international participants are expected at this conference which is described by the organisers as the “premiere regional event for water, wastewater and solid waste professionals of all types”.

UNEP CEP’s Programme Officer for the AMEP Sub-programme, Mr. Christopher Corbin and Ms Donna Sue Spencer, Communications Specialist from the GEF CReW project will participate.

The CWWA is a regional organisation formed in Trinidad and Tobago in 1991 representing professionals and agencies in water, wastewater and sectors. Over the past 20 years, its mission has been to bring together the water and sanitation community in the Caribbean towards the protection of public health and the promotion of sustainable development.
