CARIFESTA XV – Antigua and Barbuda to Host Technical Workshops

Ahead of the highly anticipated festival, set to be staged in Antigua and Barbuda in August 2022, the CARIFESTA XV – Antigua and Barbuda Secretariat is pleased to announce plans to host two Technical Workshops, in Lighting and Stage Management, on the 1st and 2nd of September at the Dean William Lake Cultural Centre from 9 am to 4 pm, daily.

Under the theme, “One Caribbean. One Environment. Diverse Cultures”, this is the first time our twin island state will host this prestigious cultural showcase.

The Caribbean Festival of Arts, CARIFESTA, is the Caribbean Community’s (CARICOM) multi-disciplinary roving art and culture festival.

In 2022, Antigua and Barbuda will host this event, which will attract over 2,000 delegates from CARICOM and non-CARICOM territories of the Caribbean, Latin America and the Diaspora.

As such, to ensure the success of the Festival, the Secretariat, over the next few months, will be hosting several technical workshops, which should attract potential individuals, who will be called to serve their country, and also provide technical services and expertise, for the 2022 event.

This workshop is targeted to any person, who may be classified as advanced or established in the respective fields, or persons who have a keen interest in pursuing a new opportunity.

On Day One of the two-day workshop, featured topics on Lighting will include Electricity, Lighting Instruments, and Theatre Lighting vs Concert Lighting.

Meanwhile, on Day Two, the Stage Management workshop will primarily focus on the principles of stage management and practices associated with production. Both workshops are free to residents and citizens of Antigua and Barbuda.

Interested persons can register for one, or both, workshops by visiting the CARIFESTA XV Secretariat on Old Parham Road (upstairs Kentucky Fried Chicken/KFC); or the CARIFESTA website, www.carifesta.net to complete the registration online. For more information, persons can also contact the Secretariat directly, by calling 562- 9605/06.
