Daren Sammy donates laptops to St. Lucia’s Ministry of Education

Cricketer, Daren Sammy has donated laptops to the Ministry of Education to contribute to St. Lucia’s COVID-19 relief efforts.

Following the government’s call for help with the new school system for laptop donations to teachers and students in need, Sammy decided to support the students by donating laptops.

Sammy initially wanted to provide laptops for the Daren Sammy Foundation recipients, however, after finding out that they are all equipped and can follow the new education plan, he decided to donate laptops to the local Ministry of Education.

The donation was well received by Permanent Secretary Michelle Charles on behalf of Education Minister Dr. Gale Rigobert, who disclosed on her official Facebook page that the former West Indies Cricket team captain and a two-time T20 World Cup Champion donated laptops to the Ministry of Education.

The Daren Sammy Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization set up with the mission to empower young people from St. Lucia and to provide them with the opportunity to become world-known professional athletes.

In the spirit of supporting, giving back to the community and contributing to St. Lucia’s COVID-19 relief during these difficult times, Daren Sammy who is very well-known for his philanthropic nature also donated thousands of dollars’ worth of essential supplies to 23 medical workers from the Saint Jude Hospital in Vieux Fort.
