Dominica Rallies Citizens Against Child Abuse

ROSEAU, Dominica, Sept. 3, CNS – Dominica is adopting a new approach in its bid to stamp out child abuse in the country.

“I’m calling on families, parents, brothers, sisters to look out for our children, protect them as they cannot protect themselves,” Minister for Social Services, Community Development and Gender Affairs Gloria Shiillingford said.

“Protect them from the predators that are lying in wait for the opportunity to harm them. Do not be afraid to report incidents which you have noticed going on around you.”

Addressing residents in communities of Clifton, Capuchin and Cocoyer, Shillingford noted that the Labour Administration has been second to none in its social programmes.

She stated that the Government will continue to play its role in taking care of the youth, who are the future, and the elderly who set the foundation on which the nation continues to build.
