KINGSTON, Jamaica, May 06 2017 – Police have arrested and charged popular reggae artiste George Nooks with possession of cocaine.
The police say that Nooks, 56, was arrested in the Corporate Area during an anti-narcotics operation.
The entertainer was reportedly seen acting in a suspicious manner and when approached by the law officers he threw a bag in his 2016 Mercedes Benz SUV.
On searching the vehicle – that was later seized – the police discovered a plastic bag with cocaine.
Nooks was arrested and offered bail in the sum of J$80,000.
He is scheduled to appear in a Corporate Area court on May 17.
Nooks is well known for his hit song “God is standing by”.
