Former Government Minister Slapped With Five Charges

ST JOHN’S, Antigua, Mar 10 2016 – Former minister of government Hilson Baptiste has been charged with failure to comply with the lawful direction of a police officer; dangerous driving; battery on a police officer; resisting arrest, and assault with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.

Baptiste, 67, will appear in court today to answer the charges.

He was taken into police custody Tuesday, following an alleged altercation with a police officer stationed at the VC Bird International Airport.

On Wednesday, at about 4: 30 pm, the former agriculture minister received Station Bail in the sum of $10,000 with two sureties.
