Grenada names new ambassador to CARICOM

Grenada has named a former magistrate and government minister as its new ambassador to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

Economic Development, Trade, Planning & Cooperative Minister, Oliver Joseph, told reporters at the end of the weekly Cabinet meeting on Tuesday that Arley Gill, who served as a minister in the Tillman Thomas administration that was swept out of office in 2013, will replace Dr. Patrick Antoine, who left the post last year.

“We are now awaiting the acceptance letter from CARICOM for us to give the appointment the date of effect,” Joseph told reporters.

Gill, an attorney, who recently served as a magistrate in Dominica, was expelled from the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the height of internal bickering.
